Views From Arcadia Cottages; Lake Bunyonyi

We had the pleasure of spending two complimentary nights at Arcadia Lodges, located in Kabale on Lake Bunyonyi. If you follow me on Instagram, I have shared more in detail before about Uganda’s Natural Splendor during my visit. If you have never heard of Arcadia Lodges, brace yourself for some of the most scenic island views, fields of green and perfect clear blue skies in unison with a serene Lake! What more could a girl ask for?!

Getting there

The one thing we each loved about the drive to Kabale was the smooth and straight roads all the way. It took us about 8 hours, but our Gps estimated 7, which wasn’t too bad considering we drove at a comfortable pace and made about two stops for food and gas refills. I definitely recommend driving and listening to different playlists as Gina, Zahara and I did. Right! Another excellent essential on the road is some good music.

IMG_5783I recommend Nico and Vins who at this point should we have another road trip will have me singing to their entire album. The drive to our destination was extremely smooth, otherwise. Both to and from Arcadia Lodge. Another vital tip for Kabale, particularly Lake Bunyonyi, is warm clothing, as it can get really cold especially at night. Lucky for us, we arrived at a perfect time, where it wasn’t too cold.

Our room had the premium landscape views, with two double beds. It was very spacious with huge windows, our beds were comfortable, and there is a warmer for when it gets cold at night, with extra blankest and a beautiful bathroom with hot water. Each room has a balcony and each balcony displays a unique view of the islands and hills. Another thing we appreciated was that the room service how neat everything was which made us feel pampered.

Their restaurant is casual, with a menu that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is Lake Bunyonyi’s  fine dining restaurant, so everything from their salads to desserts are top notch. Allow for about 20 to 40 minutes for preparations as you make your order. The restaurant is so cosy, especially at dinner where a stove was lit for us to warm up. For daytime meals, you have a great view of the from wherever you’re sitting of the scenery outside. The perfect corner table outside on the deck, has spectacular lighting. Room service is also available at all hours of the day.

I appreciated that they served healthy items like salads (in either a small or large portions), while also serving grilled items, depending on what you were in the mood for. A must try is the Cray fish pasta…They stay open until 9 p.m.

The room prices are on the higher end, especially for Ugandans. Compared to other places, the food and drinks are also pricey. Arcadia could consider making packages more suited for Ugandans, who would love to explore this beauty.

Right now Arcadia Lodges is offering an excellent deal for readers, but you have to book by the end of July 2016! The deal gives you a 30% discount on your complimentary room with breakfast when you use the code; (Ended)You definitely will enjoy this insanely beautiful and relaxing destination away from the city chaos.

Downsides: The only downside I found was that there wasn’t much going on at night, as Arcadia is really quiet and relaxing, so if you want to “party/turn-up” at night, you won’t find that here. Price-wise as well, plan this is on the high end. It is excellent for couples on their honeymoon or couples that want to relax on vacation, or take a weekend getaway 😉

Overall, I would recommend Arcadia Lodges or a visit to Lake Bunyonyi as a place to vacation, or spend a weekend – I simply fell in love with Arcadia upon arrival. Another amazing thing about it is how wonderful the staff is. They were always positive, friendly and made us feel so welcome.

Have you been to Arcadia Lodges? I would love to hear all about your experience. Email me if you have any further questions or would like to make a booking 🙂
