Happy Women’s Day! What better way to celebrate this day than with a tale about Mother Nature 🙂
Having heard several wonderful stories about how beautiful Sipi Falls is, I happily joined my three new friends for a road trip to Mbale. Tine, Gina, Agnes and I spent our Saturday and Sunday, in Mbale in awe of the magnificent Sipi falls. Our trip started off in Jinja at the Source of the Nile and two cozy places that I enjoyed staying at, Two Friends and Source of the Smile.
Our drive from Jinja to the hills leading us to Sipi Falls Resort was made easy by our excellent driver Gina 🙂
We arrived just in time to join other travelers for the sunset walk. It felt good getting to the top and soaking in all the marvelous beauty. I wished we had more time to sit and enjoy the scene of vast hills and landscapes.
Dinner was served at 8:00pm and the food was good.
We were all ready for a bath and bed, but our 4 bed-roomed room, unfortunately was nothing like we anticipated. There wasn’t any hot water as promised, the sink wasn’t working, there was a little surprise now and then of bugs in our beds, which was both funny as we kept smacking them and made it difficult for us to fall asleep.. .The night was saved by an amazing spread of countless stars in the sky…simply beautiful!
Overall, the room we got had tremendous potential. The prettiest parts for me were outside!
Sipi is a small village, located across from it’s 3 namesake falls. Two of them are easier to reach and spot, whilst the third harder to reach. Our guide Moses walked a bit fast and was a pretty fit guy.The three main falls were part of a 3 hour guided walk through the coffee fields, banana groves and villages of Sipi.
Sipi Falls resort has the best view of the falls and the staff were so welcoming though what we were told about accommodation was not what we got 🙁 but the beautiful scenery made up for it…
This trip made me appreciate my beautiful country even more and gave the girls and I a well-deserved break from the city. It will continue to be a memorable and valuable experience, because standing or sitting in the middle of nowhere, looking at things in their natural state is often much needed. Such trips are teaching me more and more to cope with tough situations and most of all seek out the positive!
Planning a road trip soon? I’d love to hear all about it! I’m happy to recommend Sipi 🙂
