Happy holidays to you! I hope you had an amazing time on Christmas day with your family and loved ones…
Before Christmas, I got to spend a weekend in Lillehammer with my former Fk colleagues and friends Hege, Sebastian, Anders and Bruno 🙂
Lillehammer is a town in Oppland county Norway, with a reputation for hosting the successful 1994 Winter Olympics. It also has a picturesque view of the northern part of Lake Mjosa, river Lagen and surrounded by some beautiful mountains.
The pre-christmas coziness was alive at both Hege and Sebastians’ homes where we got to make cookies, enjoyed delicious Norwegian food made with fresh local ingredients and learned about the Norwegian culture and food traditions. Both Hege and Sebastian have amazing families who we enjoyed meeting. We also got to see part of the world cup races which was thrilling then later went to skiing (or at least our version of it) haha!
It was thrilling to watch the competition as we ofcourse cheered on for Norway. Most of the ladies were gliding on ice which for me was strange to imagine myself even skiing. Obviously having the right gear here is the most important and I would soon learn that…
After warming ourselves up with the crowds cheering the racers, it was time for Hege and Sebastian to show these two Africans how to hold skiis… It was like being a kid again and being told to get back on my little bike and try again.
For me, after that painful thud where my butt hit the ice, I was ready go home. Bruno however made me re-think this with his determination to move! He made it seem fun. I really enjoyed this though…
We got to explore the town and visited a gallery owned by Heges friend before we left, which I adored. Lillehammer is indeed a charming town. I was thrilled to have had a taste of a holiday with an Olympic feel!
Have you enjoyed your holiday so far, I would love to hear all about it!
